Please allow us to take this opportunity to introduce you to our Welsh vineyard. Penarth Vineyard is situated on a unique riverside location in the Montgomeryshire region of Powys in mid Wales. In 2003 we produced a small crop; as the vines were very young. The quality however, was maintained as we were able to harvest in a two day period; literally 24 hours before the heavy rains began. Our Penarth Estate sparkling wines have been produced in the traditional method. Two years in stainless steel tanks on lees and a 12 month bottle maturation created a wine that will compare favourable to our French counterparts.

The sparkling pink (Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier) has a soft berry fruit aroma with harmonious tannins to create a depth of flavours in the mouth. The Blanc de Blanc (Chardonnay) is “lees led” with less fruit on the taste but a fuller feel in the mouth and a gooseberry finish. Our still Pinot Noir is full of fruit with strawberry overtones and with age will develop a cherry finish. Enjoy this wine as a rose served chilled on a warm summer evening. The Chardonnay has crisp, fresh understated green apple flavours which leave you wanting more.

Penarth Estate wines are made from the produce of our vineyards in Montgomeryshire in Mid Wales, whilst the wines are made at Three Choirs Vineyard, by award winning winemaker Martin Fawkes and his team of skilled professionals. We enjoy the wine making process and are quite involved as well. We proudly display the fact that we are in the unique micro-climate of Montgomeryshire. Our Welsh wine is very unique in that we grow varieties which are highly believed to be unsuitable for our climate. Yet our grapes are grown outside and face the elements giving them a richness of flavours and depth of character.

We know that there is a great demand on your precious time but we would welcome you to make an appointment to visit our vineyard.
