My name (pronounced ‘skirm’) goes back to the Viking raiders that were such a big part of our history on this coast, it means ‘giant’ though I’m certainly not! North Nash, our farm, is between Llangwm village, once a fishing village, and Hook Colliery, where they used to mine anthracite.

Without Puffin, I think potato growing here would have gone the way of coal and fishing. What we’ve got in common is farming roots in this part of the world. Together we’ve added value to our produce and made it available all over Wales — you could say we’ve put Pembrokeshire potatoes on the map.

My son’s following me into the business, which gives me a lot of satisfaction. In fact my Dad, who’s 85, is still helping me so we’ll have three generations all working on the land and working with Puffin!
