Ms Gerry Collins became café proprietor of the Great Oak Café from Autumn 2006.

The café was completely refurbished in Spring 2007 and around the same time the café acquired Fair Trade status.

The cafe is well known throughout the area and is highly regarded for the wholesome and appetizing fare on offer, a varied menu, cooked fresh everyday using fresh ingredients from 17 mainly local suppliers.

The café now features in the Hidden Places of Wales Guide.

The café has extended the range of organic and fair-trade including all its coffee, tea and hot chocolate made fresh to order, it also has soya milk shakes and organic sparkling drinks.

The licensed cafe serves wine and organic ales and ciders. The café has also introduced bio degradeable take away boxes & forks (for hot and cold food).

The menu of vegetarian wholefood changes daily and caters for special dietary needs such as vegan, wheat and dairy free including tasty Soup of the Day such as carrot & coriander, spicy parsnip or leek and potato and includes dishes such as lasagna, varied quiches, Thai or Indian curry, pizza, flans or shepherdess pie and has an extensive freshly made salad bar

There are wonderful homemade cakes such as chocolate, coffee and walnut, vegan apricot and date flap jacks & a variety of fruit cakes; pear & almond, lemon & poppy seed, passion cake. Also cakes that are wheat free, dairy free & with no added sugar are available. All cakes can be made to order to takeaway.

The cafe seats 36 inside, with access to the rear courtyard and pavement tables. Nursing mothers & children are welcome with brightly coloured plastic cups, knifes, forks and spoons, baby nappy changer and high chairs are available. There is good disabled access and a disabled toilet.

The café displays art by local artists and provides regular evening dining events and a venue for local musicians and groups.

The cafe also provides buffets.
