The Monnow Valley, near Skenfrith, Monmouthshire is home to Petals of the Valley. Here we grow fragrant roses, chamomile, lavender, rosemary and the many other flowers and herbs that go to make up our wonderfully fresh and natural Welsh products.

We take an organic approach, intervening as little as possible, encouraging plants to self seed and naturalise. We think that this, together with unspoilt soil, fresh air and refreshing welsh rain, is why our fields are teeming with wildlife and our plants flourish.

We are Denise Jones and Desdemona Freeman, and we founded Petals of the Valley with the seemingly impossible aim of making pure welsh rose otto essential oil, the most precious of all essential oils.

Along the way we have found ourselves re-invigorating herbal and floral traditions such as natural potpourri and herbal infusions, giving our customers the benefit of nature’s bounty in its most unadulterated form.

So far so good! We hope to make our first few drops of rose oil this year and as a bonus we have a range of simple, natural products which we hope you will enjoy.

Here in the Monnow Valley, near Skenfrith, Monmouthshire is where we grow and distill our Rosa Damascena (Kazanlik) roses to make pure rosewater, rich in its own essential oil. We also grow other types of roses and herbs which we hand-pick and air-dry to make simple natural products that are as effective as they are beautiful – may they lift your spirits and brighten your day.
